Ways to Get More People To Your Website
1. Make sure your site is worth visiting: easy to find, easy to use, up-to-date, appropriate for the people you want to visit.
2.Start a blog
Yes, everyone else, including my grandmother, has a blog. You should start one too. A blog is a great way to get your visitors to return to your web site. Especially if you frequently update it with entries that are relevant to your visitors’ needs. And also that occasional odd entry on what’s happening in your personal life. A blog can greatly increase the personal touch of your web site. And your visitors are more likely to come back.
3.Make sure you don’t have broken links on your site! There is nothing more annoying when one clicks a link and it does not work. There are hundreds of places you can go on the internet that will check your link validity. Use them.
4.Create a Weekend Link Bait. Establish the habit of creating and promoting a weekend Link Bait on popular social websites like Digg, Reddit, del.icio.us or StumbleUpon. This is by the far the easiest and most powerful way to get traffic to your site during the weekends.
Social news sites usually get less news during the weekend, and it is likely that your bait will be more successful during this time.
5.. Social Media. Aside from search engines, this is the mother load of traffic. Whether you’re building a large Myspace and Facebook presence, establishing yourself as a thought leader on linked in, or seeing your content promoted on Digg, Netscape, and Reddit…this is probably the largest yield of any audience building effort
6.Get linked. This is a very important part of website management. Exchange links. Trading links with other websites that are closely related to the subject of your website can bring you more website traffic. These are two-way links because you must provide a link to them, too, and linking to low-quality websites can threaten the credibility of yours. Only link to sites that are dead on topic, and truly help your visitors. Instead of trading links, you could also trade banner ads, half page ads, classified ads, etc.
7. Online Forums. Like web directories, online forums can trace their history back to the earliest days of Internet traffic. But like blogging, it’s a great way to personalize your interaction with your audience while building traffic.
